Community Development Worker

Sound Minds is a charity, led by mental health service users, channelling the power of creativity and peer support to improve the lives of people living with long term mental ill health. Our studios house a vibrant and inclusive creative community with music rehearsal, tuition, recording, filmmaking, drama, a visual art studio, and a choir. Sound Minds became an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation in April 2023.

Main purposes of the job:

  • To work with the people and organisations of South West London to help ensure that the membership of Sound Minds reflects the wider community that we are part of.
  • To work with the community of members, staff, trustees and volunteers at Sound Minds to help ensure that our members continue to lead the organisation and that Sound Minds is a safe place of wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be proactive with a can do attitude and combine these different elements to make a real difference and help grow the organisation.

Due to the nature of the work with our members the role needs to be carried out in person and is not suitable for remote working.

We particularly encourage people with lived experience of mental ill health to apply.

Salary: £25,618 per annum pro rata (salary will be 0.6 x £25,618) & 3% contribution to pension

Hours: 21 hours per week, including the core days of Tuesday and Thursday

This fixed term contract ends on 31st March 2027 and is renewable depending on funding.

You will be required to have a DBS (criminal records check) and satisfactory written references before starting.
