Funding models

Self funding

We have reduced rates for most services when people pay for themselves. Increasingly people are choosing to self-fund, which can be flexible and affordable.

Personal budgets

Funds are sometimes made available by local authority social services or NHS organisations to pay for services that people have identified will help them in their recovery. Some people coming to Sound Minds are funded by Personal Budgets of some kind.

Obtaining a personal budget can be quite difficult and takes time, so we suggest that applications are initiated as soon as possible. Personal Budgets are usually arranged through the NHS community mental health teams and local authority social work teams. The processes differ from borough to borough.

Personal Budgets currently enable people to attend from the following boroughs:

  • Richmond
  • Lambeth
  • Southwark
  • Kensington and Chelsea
  • Westminster
  • Hammersmith and Fulham
