Music is central to what we do. Our well equipped studios in Wandsworth are available for 121 tuition, rehearsal and recording. A number of bands rehearse at our studios including Bluesology and the legendary reggae group The Channel One Band. The Sound Minds Community Choir rehearse at a nearby community centre. We also offer a weekly jam session and a weekly DJ session.
Bands
The bands at Sound Minds are an ongoing commitment and if you are keen to play in a band we will do our best to fit you in. We also facilitate the forming of new bands when there is the demand for it.
Jam
We run a weekly jam session on a Tuesday which is a great way in to get to know the people at Sound Minds. All instruments and vocalists are welcome and we play a mixture of members’ own songs, cover versions, and structured improvisations.
Individual tuition - music production and 121s
Are you starting out or want to extend your music skills and ideas?
Sound Minds offers support in all aspects of music production to help you to take charge of your creativity. We primarily use Logic and Reason and our staff are experienced musicians with the ideas to help your tune come to life.
We also offer 121 tuition in playing the guitar, keyboard and drums as well as vocal skills.
Djing
The Dj’s gather to practice and hang out on Friday afternoons, using the Live Room which is equipped and ready to shake, with Technics 1210 vinyl decks, Stanton CD decks and a 1000W PA. Traktor software provides a route to play mp3s.
DJs also get the opportunity to play out at our gigs.
Choir
The choir is open to everyone and no experience is necessary. The choir meets weekly and the repertoire includes popular songs that we all love to sing.
Studio space & recording
If you are confident with Reason or Logic and the basics of music production, you can book one of our studios by the hour to work independently.
Our Live Room is also available to book if you want to practice your instrument or play with others.
