Location: Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to work at Sound Minds, 20-22 York Road, SW11 3QA

Sound Minds is a user-led charity that improves the mental health and wellbeing of people living in Wandsworth and the surrounding London boroughs through a varied arts programme of music, visual art and drama activities, and peer support.

Funded by Arts Council England and Youth Music, our Battersea studios house a creative community with music rehearsal, tuition, recording, filmmaking, drama, a visual art studio, and a choir.

Breathe Music is a weekly music project at Sound Minds that supports young adults to engage with music in a safe, welcoming and creative environment. Through regular music-making opportunities, participants can develop their skills, explore their creativity and connect with others.

The project aligns with Youth Music’s aims of increasing access to inclusive, high-quality music opportunities and supporting positive outcomes for young people through creative expression.

This role will support timely and targeted vocal based interventions for participants who would benefit most from additional support.

Breathe Music participants are aged 18-30 and have mixed levels of musical experience, from complete beginners to more experienced musicians. Therefore, all Breathe sessions are delivered in a flexible and supportive way.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in singing and vocal practice (any genre welcome), and experience of facilitating or supporting music sessions, ideally with young adults.

A sensitive, non judgemental approach and confidence working with people experiencing serious mental health problems is essential for the role.

You will work from our premises in Battersea, and in collaboration with a talented and friendly team of music professionals and volunteers.
