Job Opportunity: Head of Operations

Salary: £42,833 per annum FTE (salary will be 0.8 x £42,833) & 3% contribution to pension

Hours: 28 hours per week, including the core days of Tuesday and Thursday

Location: This is predominantly an on-site role, working from Sound Minds premises (20-22 York Road, SW11 3QA) with occasional working-from-home time as agreed with CEO.

Reporting to: CEO

Responsible for: Administrator, Peer Support Workers x 3, Senior Peer Support Worker & Coordinator, Canerows Programme Manager, Community Development Worker

Length of contract: To 16/6/30, renewable depending on funding

Sound Minds is a user led charity channelling the power of creativity and peer support to improve the lives of people living with lived experience of mental ill health. We are an Arts Council NPO and our Battersea studios house a creative community with music rehearsal, tuition, recording, creative writing, visual art studios, and a choir. Our peer support programme delivers two lunch time drop-ins, ward visiting at Springfield Hospital, post discharge support, and we employ community Peer Support Workers who take referrals from the local NHS Trust.

Purpose of the job

The Head of Operations is a member of the senior leadership team at Sound Minds and leads the management and day-to-day operations of a vibrant community premises.

Sound Minds is in a period of review and consolidation, following growth of its programmes and having secured Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation status. The Head of Operations will further develop and implement robust systems to support this growth and the charity’s future aims.

The role leads on all operational, health and safety, premises, IT, systems, human resources, evaluation, and reporting activity. The Head of Operations manages the delivery of Sound Minds’ Peer Support service and will act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. They deputise for the CEO as required.

They will assist the CEO on maintaining key relationships with external stakeholders and external communications.

Sound Minds is a creative place, and the Head of Operations will need a passion for organisation and administration.
